We were impressed by the quality of submissions and the care taken to prepare the fleeces. Congratulations to all our winners and participants for their outstanding contributions!

We also want to thank Peggy Gwillim for once again being a fantastic fleece judge. Her attention to detail and deep knowledge of fleece qualities made the judging process both fair and insightful. We truly appreciate the effort put into assessing each entry and providing constructive comments.
A special thank you is also due to our generous sponsors whose support made this competition possible:

● David Lalach – Richardson Wealth david.lalach@richardsonwealth.com
● Custom Woolen Mills Ltd. https://www.customwoolenmills.com/
● Briggs & Little Woolen Mills Ltd. https://briggsandlittle.com/
● Yarn Over Fibre and Craing Co. https://yarnover.ca/
● A Single Strand Fibre Arts Studio https://www.singlestrandfibrestudio.com/
● Discovery Co-op https://www.discoveryco-op.crs/

Their commitment and support were invaluable in bringing this event to fruition. As always, we are thankful to the Saskatchewan Sheep Breeders Association and the Saskatchewan Sheep Development Board for putting on a great event and providing us space to hold the fleece competition and displays.
Demonstrations of carding, spinning, and weaving went on for the whole show. Finished yarns, and knitted, woven, crocheted and felted pieces of fibre art were displayed. Many interesting conversations happened about the uses for wool.
This year, Sask Auction Mart (www.saskauctionmart.ca/) hosted our online fleece auction following the competition, free of charge. This online platform allowed the auction to reach bidders we havenʼt in the past and ensured the auction ran smoothly. The sale average was $90, with a range from $45-$175 per fleece. Once again we had bidders from across Canada looking for quality fleeces.
Our excellent sale results show that people are willing to pay for quality, well prepared fleeces.
We encourage you to enter a fleece or two next year, and to help spread the word about the success of the Grasslands show!
