Prairie Fibre-Full Circles

We are Prairie Fibreshed Network Inc., a regional group which seeks to unite and support fibre producers and fibre users while promoting soil to soil processes within Saskatchewan. Our website is prairiefibreshed.ca. We are an affiliate of the original Fibershed organization in California, fibershed.org.

We are passionate about furthering a local textile economy involving producers, processors, makers and patrons in a circular process from soil to skin to soil. Quality enduring textiles are beautiful treasures to be valued for life. Made from natural materials, they can return to the earth when they are used up.

We’re creating an exhibition to showcase local textile artists using Saskatchewan grown and processed natural fibre materials. We want to involve as many talented people as possible by facilitating partnerships and collaborations between participants in ‘farm to fibre’ textile creation processes.

It will be challenging to create works for this exhibition — all natural materials, all Saskatchewan sourced. We’re hoping for creativity and inspiration within limits, making community connections, and excitement from new experiences.

If you are interested in creating a piece (or pieces) for this exhibition, please contact us for more information. We’ll supply the specific parameters for projects, and details about how to become involved. We’re open to a broad interpretation of fibre arts, within the
requirements of natural materials within Saskatchewan. We can facilitate partnerships between producers and processors with artisans who have specific needs.
